The typical antenna system comprises devices and components formed from metal and durable plastic compounds, and is clearly designed for use in the great outdoors. However, there are occasions when the great outdoors can be far greater than what the typical antenna system is designed for.

In such circumstances, CTS provide enhanced environmental protection for antenna systems. In the main this addresses lightning, high wind, and low temperatures.

Lightning protection takes the form of Lightning Spikes for structures connected to the Lightning Field; and Lightning Surge Arresters which are incorporated into the EMC Cabinet for compliance with EEC Directive: EMC 89/336/EEC and BS EN 50083-1 (1994) Earthing Requirements.

The Lightning Spike will protect where direct lightning strike is a hazard, and the Lightning Surge Arrester will protect cables from induced lightning transients.

The Lightning Surge Arrester is a CTS proprietary device, and is unique within the TV industry. The design of the device was driven by CTS when a need to protect coaxial cables from induced lightning transients was identified.

The effects of high wind speed are taken into account with wind loading coefficient on structural design of antennae systems. Similarly, structural design considers low temperature and specification of materials.

In addition to which, full and half Antenna Heating Systems are available with automated sensor controls to react to temperature changes.

Downtime is a cost and an inconvenience that our Customers can ill afford. The primary aim of these solutions is Downtime Prevention.
